What this site is
An information reference compiled from public United States government records. It is published for general information and is not advice — not financial, not legal, not employment advice. Decisions about accepting a position, relocating, or negotiating pay are yours.
Accuracy
Figures are computed automatically from OPM, BEA, BLS and Census Bureau data and verified against the source before publication. Even so, records may be incomplete or superseded, special rate schedules and agency-specific systems override the General Schedule in ways this site does not always capture, and our processing may contain errors of its own. For an authoritative figure, consult OPM or your servicing HR office.
Reuse
The underlying OPM and BEA data are works of the United States government and in the public domain. Text and derived figures generated by this site are licensed CC BY 4.0: reuse them with attribution and a link.
No government affiliation
GS Pay Tables is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management or any other government agency, and does not claim to be an official source.
Using the site
Read it, quote it, print it, link to it. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to buy. What you may not do: copy the pages wholesale to republish them as your own, scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other readers, or present the figures as an official government source. Automated access for research is fine at a human pace; if you need the whole dataset, the underlying OPM and BEA files are public and linked from the methodology page — take them from the source rather than from us.
No warranty, and the limit of what you can claim
The site is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind: not that it is accurate, not that it is complete, not that it will be available when you need it. Every figure is checked against the source before publication, and that is the whole of the assurance offered.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for any loss arising from use of this site — including a decision about a job, a move, a salary negotiation or a benefit, taken in reliance on a figure here. Pay is set by your agency under statute and regulation, not by this site. If a number matters to you, confirm it with your servicing HR office before you act on it.
Links to other sites
Pages here link to the public sources they draw on: OPM, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau, the National Finance Center, the Code of Federal Regulations, the U.S. Code, the Federal Register and congressional documents, and the others named on the methodology page. Those sites are not ours: we do not control what they publish and are not responsible for it. A link is a citation, not an endorsement.
Advertising
This site shows no advertisements today, though it already loads the advertising code. If advertisements appear later, they will be visually distinct from the reference material, and no advertiser will have any say in the figures, the rankings or the wording of a page — the numbers come from a build that has no idea advertising exists. What the advertising code means for your data is set out on the privacy page, which lists every outside service your browser contacts.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top of this page says when they last did. Changes apply from the day they are published. There is no account to notify, so if this matters to you, check the date.
Governing law
GS Pay Tables is published by BiLingoPlus LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes a right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
